Hi Barbara! I've been working on a grant to get a VISTA volunteer at EPC since last fall and we got the first application approved now are in the second stage. One question they asked that I wasn't sure of the answer is, how do we recruit employees? I'm sure there will be more questions as I go through it. Also if you feel more comfortable, I can hand the whole thing over to you, since it had been started before you were with us, I wasn't sure about it.
thanks, Megan

Hi Barbara,
Sorry we haven't been doing much with the PNM grant, we were sort of waiting for more people to chime in. If you and Cade and Sam think washer and dryer are the way to go, then I say we proceed with that. I can work on the grantwriting too if need be. Let me know if you will be available Monday at the meeting to discuss the details.

Hi Barbara,
I'm glad you are doing a proposal for new pcs. I wonder if you can include Windows XP or Windows 7 as the operating system. Vista bombed, and it's a memory hog anyway (too much resources devoted to whiz-bang graphics that add nothing to software performance, unless you're doing high-end graphics/video). It would also be nice to get Microsoft Office. Right now we are running Linux, and that is fine, except that a great deal of software won't run on it. Microsoft Office also requires a Windows operating system. I use OpenOffice a lot, and I like it, but its current functionality leaves much to be desired (especially the database). Best would be pcs with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office (not the trial version!) installed. Then we could add Linux to it (that's called a "dual-boot"). Then we would have the best of both worlds. I don't know if you can get that much funding, but if not, maybe most of the pcs Windows and some Linux?
Regards, Paul

balance an egg on end

The Experiment:

Starting a few days before the autumnal equinox, I attempted to balance an egg on end. Once I mastered the technique, I experimented with standing the same egg on the kitchen counter (abbreviated K in the data table), on a woven place mat on the kitchen table (M), on the bare wood of the kitchen table (T), on the kitchen floor (FL) and on the desk top in the family room (D). The experiment eventually evolved to standing the egg o… Continue

Fundraising

Hello All

I have been the new Development director for the past 6 weeks and finally realized I should ask if anyone is interested in meeting to talk about way to fund EPC. We can do this online or in person - I like in person myself.

Chime in let me know what you think. I have an outline of a fundraising plan if anyone is interested let me know and I will get it out to you.

We have a fundraising group and all are welome.

Take care, Barbara
