An approach similar to EPC's underway in Philadelphia

Interesting article on efforts underway in Philadelphia to add more peer/social support into the recovery mix. Excerpt:

“People in the know have long recognized that addiction is a chronic condition,” Mr. Stein added. “Unfortunately, our treatment systems have been set up in an acute-care model” — intense treatment with a 30- or 60-day limit imposed by insurance, then discharge with little more than a mandate to… Continue

-Your call on choosing which project to apply towards the grant. Here are some tips I gleaned from their website that may help in deciding:

*Priority will be given to organizations that have PNM employees and retirees actively volunteering with them.

* Set specific and measurable goals and objectives

* Discuss measurement strategies such as pre and post tests or surveys

* Talk about the amount of data you expect to gather

* Give realistic examples

* Track the results

Automated lighting - Has anyone began to estimate how much energy that would save/how much it would cost? Besides giving project costs and energy savings, read that an important part of the application is to explain how the funds will be used towards educating the community on reducing energy use, etc.

We would be interested in putting something together for the PNM non-profit grants you talked about at the meeting. What project would you be interested in applying the money to? A link to the projects that received funding from the Reduce Your Use program ($2500 to non-profits) is here.

2008 Recipients

Emailed the Reduce Your Use program director at the PNM foundation inquiring for more information today, will forward info if/when we hear back.
